Follow our guide to turn your Android smartphone into a wireless internet access point.
Wireless internet connections are increasingly offer better coverage and greater power. If we are within
the range of the signal, WiFi signals offer maximum guarantees so that we can connect our devices.
Although if it does not reach us with enough power in our workplace or free time such a slowness and
eventual disconnections in the middle of downloading processes or online purchases are very annoying.
How to use your Android mobile as a WiFi repeater
At present there are numerous WiFi repeaters that allow us to expand the signal in places where the
router does not reach with sufficient coverage, for example, if we share WiFi with our neighbor but in
some rooms of our home it does not reach with sufficient power. But if we do not want to acquire one
of these devices or we do not have a plug within our place, we can always use our Android smartphone
to use it as a WiFi signal repeater and thus improve the range. Follow our guide to configure your
Android mobile as a wireless repeater.
Which models are more appropriate?
The latest Android versions and some of the latest mobile devices on the market included systems so
that we can use our Android smartphone as a wireless internet signal repeater; Thus, our mobile is able
to receive internet signal, amplify it and send it to expand our coverage area. Models such as the
Samsung Galaxy S7, Galaxy S8 or Galaxy S8 Plus, among others, integrate similar functionalities.
Although many models cannot perform this function so useful at certain times.
If we have, for example, a Samsung Galaxy S9, we can use the smartphone as a repeater natively
through shared WiFi from the Shared Connection settings, using the WiFi network in which we are
connected to repeat the wireless signal and boost it.
Although if we do not have an Android device with these functions we offer two solutions based on
third-party applications.
NetShare – no-root-tethering
It is a very interesting application that extends the WiFi signal where necessary, without losing signal
strength and with all the guarantees. Of course, it is a paid app, although it offers 10 minutes of free
connection so we can test the application and see if it really meets our needs. Follow the steps below to
use it:
Download the application from Google Play.
Run the application and check the Share internet connection box that you will see on the first screen.
The internet connection details will be displayed with the network name and password. Use the same
credentials of your WiFi router, since it will only work as a signal repeater.
Configure the proxy of the device to connect to this repeated signal. To connect a device with Windows
we must go to Control Panel – Network – Internet.
Then go to Internet Options – Connections.
Click on the LAN Configuration option, use IP 192.168.49.1 and port 8282.
You can now use your enhanced wireless connection.
NetShare
The NetShare application is another good option to amplify our WiFi signal through our Android
smartphone. It is a free app with simple and intuitive operation. Follow the steps below to use it:
ï‚· Download the application from Google Play.
ï‚· Run the app and press Start Sharing.
ï‚· Use the same SSID and password that the app shows to connect us.
